Mountain lions are part of the big cat family of animals and are known by many names including cougar, panther, puma and catamount. Mountain lions are large, tan cats whose bodies are mainly covered in fur. Male cats are about 30% larger than females and have an average length of 3 to 5 feet and height of 2 to 3 feet. They definitely are not your typical house cats!
