When you think of snow, you probably think of places like Alaska, the Arctic, the Antarctic, and Canada. However, Scotland has 421 words for "snow" to be exact. A team of researchers at the University of Glasgow compiled the first-ever Historical Thesaurus of Scots, creating a book of synonyms and antonyms for Scottish terms. Even they were surprised when they came across 421 different terms for the word snow. Some of these include “snaw”, “sneesl”, and “skelf”.
