About five million people visit the Grand Canyon every year

Imagine the entire population of Ireland travelling to Arizona to visit the Grand Canyon every single year. Thats about equivalent to the number of people that actually visit each year with around 90 percent of them first seeing the canyon from the South Rim where a dramatic view into the deep inner gorge of the Colorado River lies. If you ever do visit in person, you'll find that in some places the edge of the rock overlooking the canyon has been polished smooth due to how many people have stood in that very spot before.
