One, two, three strikes you’re out at the old ball game! Odds are you just sang that classic song in your head, but 3 strikes are not always the end of a half-inning in baseball. In baseball, a fourth out may count for the defense if there are two players running around the bases and already 2 outs, the defense may get both of those players out. After the 3rd player is recorded out, a fourth out can occur with a legal out, in which case the player does not need to be tagged but is ruled out.
