In 2009, two submarines, HMS Vanguard and Triomphant, both armed with nuclear weapons and entirely stealthed, accidentally bumped into each other in the Atlantic Ocean on an early morning in February. Both submarines sustained damage, but there were no injuries or radioactive leaks caused by the collision. Reports claim that if the collision had been even slightly worse, one or both of the nuclear weapons onboard could have detonated, which would have completely destroyed both submarines and released deadly amounts of nuclear power into the surrounding area.
