Girls have boys beat in the taste bud department

While it may not be true that girls are made of sugar, spice, and everything nice, it is true that girls taste sugar and spice more than their male counterparts. Girls have been found to have a higher number of taste buds than boys. Not only that, but their taste buds also work better, taking in more taste for each of the 5 types of taste buds: sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and umami, which is the flavor given off by meats and broths, and can also be described using the word 'savory'. A higher number of taste buds combined with more effective taste buds give girls a superior sense of taste.
