A mature tree produces enough oxygen for a family of four

If anyone ever says that trees are not important, just show them this fact. Trees do not only produce oxygen, they produce A TON of oxygen. The average adult tree takes in enough carbon dioxide and spits out enough oxygen that it could provide the oxygen needs of a family of 4 for an entire year. Put into more mathematical terms, the average adult tree absorbs nearly 50 pounds of carbon dioxide every year. One acre of those trees can consume enough carbon dioxide to make up for a car driving 26,000 miles
