Using a practice that should be repeated the world over, France actually does not allow grocery stores to throw away unused food. Instead, all food that they think they can no longer sell must be given to the poor and donated to charities. This massively cuts down on France’s food waste, which in turn simultaneously cuts down on carbon emissions and helps give back to the lower class in their country. More countries are looking at implementing this rule for their grocery stores.
