The vertical green code in the Matrix originates from Sushi

The descending green vertical code in The Matrix film series, also sometimes known as green rain, is the computer code of the matrix. However, it actually got its origins from Japanese sushi. Simon Whiteley, who created the custom code for the Matrix, attributes the design to his wife, who is from Japan. He said that the Matrix code is made out of Japanese sushi recipes. However, it was not only Japanese symbols in the code; there were also Latin letters and numerals.
