Salvador Dali, one of the most famous artists of all time, used to avoid paying at restaurants by drawing on the back of the checks he would leave. These drawings made the checks too valuable to actually cash, and the restaurant would be left with a very valuable drawing but no actual cash. This saved Dali tons of money throughout his travels, and many of the restaurants sold the drawings for much more than Dali actually owed them.
