There are more public libraries than McDonald's in the United States

For every public library you see, you also drive past somewhere between 50 and 1000 McDonald’s, right? While that may seem true, there are actually more public libraries than McDonald’s in the United States. In 2014, there were 16,766 public libraries found in all 52 states, compared to 14,157 McDonald’s restaurants. The largest library in the US is the Library of Congress, which consists of over 158 million items.
