Augustus Caesar was the wealthiest man in history

Forget about Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, nobody in the modern era has anything on Augustus Caesar, the first Emperor of the Ancient Roman Empire. Valued at roughly 4.6 trillion dollars today, Caesar owned a fifth of the wealth of the Ancient Roman Empire, which accounted for more than 30 percent of gross domestic product for the entire world at the time. Caesar also had countless palaces and other possessions that helped boost his net worth to roughly 10x that of Jeff Bezos.
