Two of North America’s rarest species hide out in Alabama

Alabama is as good a hiding place as anywhere else. The Perdido Key beach mouse and the Alabama beach mouse are two of the continent's rarest animals and both decided to make roots in Alabama. They spend their days trying to avoid coyotes, feral pigs, deer, armadillos and alligators all of whom are looking for them for their next meal.
