Sharks can be over 500 years old

That just may be the case with the Greenland Shark, which has an estimated lifespan of 300-500 years. This makes it the owner of the longest known lifespan of any vertebrate species and makes it able to live 5 times as long as the Galapagos Tortoise, which is the longest land-living animal with a 100 year lifespan.
