Elephants can swim over 20 miles a day

While they may seem too big, heavy, and cumbersome to win any Olympic swimming medals, elephants are actually incredibly good swimmers. They can swim up to 20 miles in a day and have even been known to swim almost 300 miles over a short period of time with breaks to rest. Elephants are the largest land animals on Earth, and they rest for only short periods of time, with their average night of rest only coming out to 3 or 4 hours.
