Dragonflies have six legs but cannot walk

While dragonflies do have six legs, you have probably never actually seen one walk. This is because dragonflies actually are not physically able to walk, but their legs are more just for landing and taking off. Dragonflies move through flight, generally flying from landing spot to landing spot looking for smaller insects and other edible things. Researchers are not sure why dragonflies have as many legs as they do if they cannot walk, but they believe at some point they were able to walk.
