A newborn giant panda is about the size of a stick of butter

Pandas are the rarest member of the bear family and live primarily in bamboo forests high in the mountains of western China. Although adult pandas can grow to be about 330 pounds, newborn pandas are extremely small by comparison. When pandas are born they are only about the size of a stick of butter or approximately 3 to 5 ounces. They are born pink, hairless, blind and only around 0.1% the size of its mother. A panda's meal consists almost entirely of bamboo.
