A cat can jump 5 times as high as its tail is long

Cats can really jump. Research has found that the average cat can jump roughly the height of 5 or 6 times the length of its tail. Since the tail is usually roughly the same length as the body, this is the equivalent of a 6-foot tall human being able to jump 30-36 feet into the air. The average cat is 46 centimeters in length and thus can jump almost 7.5 feet in the air. That is 3 quarters of the height of a basketball hoop!
